Kitten Diaries
Week 2
It's been quite a busy week. One of Daisy's oriental girls was having trouble feeding and when she did manage to find some milk she was being pushed off by the other bigger kittens, especially the siamese. So we came up with an idea.
As Misty was only feeding one kitten and obviously had milk to spare why not see if she would take one of Daisy's kittens. So we introduced the siamese to her and Misty immediately started licking and washing her. She is being a brilliant foster mum, shows no favouritism and is just as protective of Daisy's kitten as she is of her own. It's also nice for Misty's kitten to have a little playmate. Meanwhile we have been giving Daisy's baby extra feeds of goats milk to build her up and, although she is a lot smaller than her siblings, she is now strong enough to push in and feed with the rest of them.

Weeks 3/4
It's Christmas Eve and Misty's kitten takes her first steps in the big outside world, while Daisy's kitten looks on. It's not long before she joins her.
During the following week one by one all the orientals venture outside their nest.
Week 5
The kittens have now moved down to the kitchen and the hard work of weaning and litter training begins.
We have decided that Misty's kitten is a chocolate point and her pedigree name is Vindex Mistys Secret.

Week 6
All the kittens are weaned now. We use James Wellbeloved complete kitten food which is hypoalergenic and does not contain harmful additives. As the kittens are still young we soak this food in warm water, which makes it nice and soft and easy to eat. In the evenings they have minced chicken which goes down extremely well! Unfortunately the litter training is not proving so easy. The two siamese and the little black girl have quickly learned to use the litter trays but the other three have not yet get the message. So, lots of mopping up! They are much more active now, chasing each other around and play fighting.

Weeks 7/8
This has been a very interesting time for the kittens as they have been meeting their new owners. They like nothing better than undoing shoelaces and climbing into handbags! They are also getting used to Ruby, our new girl, who is very bossy with them! They will have their first inoculations next week.

Week 9
Kittens are all fit and well following their inoculations. They have boundless energy and now look like small cats, rather than kittens. They have all been named now, either by their new owners or by ourselves.

Weeks 10/11/12
The kittens have had their second inoculations and are all ready to go off to their new homes from next weekend. Just as well, as they now charge around the place like a herd of small elephants, knocking food and water bowls over as they go! But we WILL miss them!
